Make a collocation

Following on from the collocations worksheets, we will use some tools in the LEXIS page to help check our answers.
  1. As a general strategy, you can simply go to http://google.com/ncr and type in the word you want to check for collocations. This will not always give you good results, but in many cases it will point you in the right direction. For example, try to type in 'endangered' and see what common collocations appear.
  2. If you can't find what you are looking for in GOOGLE, then use the COLLOCATION DICTIONARIES in the LEXIS page.
  3. If you want to see more than just collocations, but also the range of lexico-grammatical patterns, then use JUST-THE-WORD at http://www/just-the-word.com.
  4. You can also use an online dictionary -- there are several free online dictionaries you can choose from in the LEXIS page.
